A shocking case from the United States has come to light where a simple argument turned into a life-changing tragedy. A woman is now facing a long prison sentence after she allegedly used an explosive device to attack her boyfriend, leaving him seriously injured.
Woman Found Guilty After Explosive Attack
A 35-year-old woman named Keyonna Waddell has been found guilty in New York for a violent attack on her boyfriend. The court convicted her of assault and criminal possession of a weapon after a disturbing incident that happened in March 2024.
The case was handled by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, which shared details after the verdict.
Argument Turned Into Dangerous Situation
According to officials, Waddell and her boyfriend got into a heated argument at his apartment. After the fight, the man asked her to leave. Both of them stepped out, and later, the victim returned home, believing he was alone.
However, the situation took a dangerous turn while he was asleep.
Explosion Inside the Apartment
While resting, the victim suddenly woke up to a strange hissing sound. When he checked, he saw flames and discovered a lit stick of dynamite inside his bedroom.
In panic, he tried to put out the fuse but failed. As a last attempt to save himself, he picked up the explosive device to throw it out of the window. Unfortunately, it exploded in his hand before he could get rid of it.
The blast caused severe injuries, and he immediately realised that his hand was gone due to the explosion.
Severe Injuries and Medical Treatment
After the blast, the injured man ran outside for help. Doctors later had to perform surgery to remove his damaged hand and part of his arm. The injuries were serious and permanently changed his life.
Previous Threats Came to Light
During the investigation, authorities found that Waddell had allegedly threatened her boyfriend with dynamite multiple times over several months. This showed that the attack may not have been sudden but part of ongoing threats.
She was arrested the very next day after the explosion.
Possible Sentence and Next Hearing
Following her conviction, Waddell now faces a prison sentence of up to 25 years. Her sentencing is scheduled for May 27, where the court will decide her final punishment.
