A workplace dispute at a Pennsylvania towing company turned deadly after an employee allegedly shot and killed his manager following an argument over a work assignment.

Pennsylvania Tow Truck Employee Accused of Killing Manager After Work Dispute

A Pennsylvania tow truck worker has been charged with criminal homicide after allegedly shooting his manager during an argument at their workplace.

According to court records, 32-year-old Niko Hostler is accused of killing 53-year-old Christopher Ashbaugh at Oaks Auto & Truck Service in Springdale Township, Pennsylvania.

Argument Started Over End-of-Shift Call

Authorities say the incident happened on Wednesday while both men were working at the towing and repair business.

Hostler’s shift was reportedly coming to an end, and he wanted to leave work. However, Ashbaugh instructed him to respond to another towing call before finishing for the day.

Investigators say the request led to a heated argument between the two men, which quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.

Suspect Claims Self-Defense

According to the criminal complaint, Hostler told police that Ashbaugh punched him in the face and pushed him during the altercation.

Hostler claimed the manager then attempted to hit him again. He allegedly told investigators that he feared for his life because he did not know whether Ashbaugh was carrying a weapon.

The suspect said he then pulled out a firearm and opened fire.

Witness Heard Multiple Gunshots

A nearby resident, Amanda Mattern, said she witnessed much of the confrontation from her home.

According to her account, the men appeared to be arguing loudly before the situation turned violent.

She told local media that she first thought the dispute had been resolved because the argument briefly stopped. However, the shouting soon resumed.

Mattern said she then heard multiple gunshots.

“I heard them arguing and yelling, and then I heard several gunshots,” she said. Moments later, she heard the victim calling for help while lying on the ground.

Victim Dies at Hospital

Emergency responders rushed Christopher Ashbaugh to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released additional details about the victim’s injuries.

Suspect Held Without Bail

Following the shooting, police arrested Niko Hostler and charged him with criminal homicide.

He is currently being held without bail at the Allegheny County Jail.

Hostler appeared in court for a preliminary arraignment on Thursday and is scheduled to return for a preliminary hearing on June 3.

Investigation Continues

Investigators are continuing to review evidence and witness statements to determine the exact circumstances that led to the deadly workplace shooting.

The case has drawn attention to workplace violence and the tragic consequences that can occur when conflicts escalate beyond control.
