The truck driver responsible for a devastating multi-vehicle crash that killed former Olympic figure skater Alexandra Paul has been sentenced to prison in Ontario, Canada.
On May 13, a court in Orangeville, Ontario sentenced 31-year-old Sukhwinder Sidhu to two and a half years in jail for his role in the fatal crash.
In addition to the prison sentence, Sidhu was also banned from driving for seven years.
The sentencing came months after Sidhu pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
Deadly Crash Happened in Ontario Construction Zone
The tragic accident took place on August 22, 2023, in Ontario, Canada.
Authorities said Sidhu was driving a transport truck when it crashed into multiple stopped vehicles in a construction zone.
The collision involved seven vehicles and resulted in the death of Alexandra Paul, who was just 31 years old.
Several other people also suffered injuries and required hospital treatment.
