A shocking murder case from Florida has taken a disturbing turn after police revealed new details about a teenager accused of killing and dismembering a man. The case has raised serious concerns due to the alleged motive and the brutal nature of the crime.
Teen Accused of Targeting Victim
19-year-old Lucas Sander Jones has been accused of killing 28-year-old Colie Lee Daniel in Indialantic, Florida. According to police, the suspect allegedly targeted the victim because he was a registered sex offender.
Investigators claim that Jones had printed a list of nearby sex offenders before the incident, suggesting the act may have been planned.
Girlfriend Discovers Disturbing Scene
The case began to unfold on March 20 when Jones’ girlfriend visited his home. She reportedly found a disturbing scene, including:
- Blood on the floor and walls
- Blood stains on Jones’ clothes
- Spray-painted markings inside the house
According to police documents, Jones allegedly told her, “I killed somebody and cut him up.”
Details of the Alleged Murder
Authorities say the victim was attacked using a baseball bat and later dismembered with multiple tools, including:
- A cleaver
- A saw
- A knife
The girlfriend told investigators that Jones admitted to committing the crime because the victim was a sex offender.
Victim Reported Missing by Family
When Daniel did not return home, his parents used a tracking feature on his device, which showed his location at Jones’ residence.
They went to the house and asked to see their son. Jones reportedly told them Daniel was inside but refused to let them enter.
Police were called to the scene, but Jones again refused to allow officers inside. When authorities returned the next day, there were no clear signs of the victim.
Body Parts Disposed in Remote Area
After the initial police visit, Jones allegedly placed containers and a suitcase into his girlfriend’s car. They then drove to a remote location in Palm Bay, known locally as “the Compound.”
According to investigators:
- The remains were left in different spots
- A suitcase containing body parts was later found
- The area was discovered after reports of vultures gathering nearby
Inside the suitcase, police found human remains along with a package addressed to Jones.
Girlfriend Changes Her Statement
At first, the girlfriend gave a different version of events. She claimed she had seen the victim alive and later leaving the house.
However, on March 30, she returned to police and shared what she described as the “true timeline.”
She then revealed:
- She never saw the victim alive that day
- Jones had already killed and dismembered him
- Jones warned her not to speak to police
She also provided additional details about evidence that investigators had not yet found, strengthening the case against him.
Arrest and Charges
Jones was initially arrested on March 28 and charged with:
- Tampering with evidence
- Abuse of a dead body
- Improper disposal of human remains
He was released on bond shortly after. However, following new evidence and statements, he was arrested again on April 1.
This time, he was charged with first-degree murder and is now being held without bond in Brevard County Jail.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities continue to investigate the case to gather more evidence and understand the full sequence of events. The brutal nature of the crime and the alleged motive have made it a high-profile case in the area.
