A 41-year-old woman, Lyndsay Spegal, has been found guilty by a jury in Oklahoma. The jury did not accept her claim that she slapped her teenage daughter to treat an ear infection.

Case Began with Police Tip
The case started in July last year when Claremore Police Department received a tip about possible abuse. Officers began investigating after reports that Spegal had slapped her daughter.
During questioning, the daughter told investigators that her mother often became violent, especially when using drugs. She also mentioned substances like DMT being used at home.
Conflicting Statements from the Accused
At first, Spegal told police that she slapped her daughter to help clear an ear infection. Later, she changed her explanation and said she acted because her daughter used inappropriate language. However, she still claimed that the slap helped with the ear issue.
The jury did not find these explanations believable.
Drugs Found in the House
During the investigation, police carried out a search and found several items related to illegal substances. Officers reported discovering jars believed to contain DMT, along with a grow setup for psilocybin mushrooms.
They also found smoking devices and seeds. According to reports, Spegal described DMT as something positive that could change lives.
The home was located less than 300 feet from an elementary school, which added to the seriousness of the situation.

During the trial, the daughter shared more details about past incidents. She spoke about previous times when her mother had been violent.
