A Florida woman has been arrested after authorities say she stabbed a 76-year-old military veteran to death during an argument and then drove away in his vehicle. Investigators allege the suspect covered the victim’s body before leaving the scene in his pickup truck.
The incident happened in Punta Gorda, Florida, and has shocked neighbors who described the victim as a kind and respected member of the community.
Woman Arrested in Veteran’s Death
Authorities identified the suspect as 47-year-old Shannon R. Giblin. She is facing charges of second-degree murder and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was 76-year-old Paul De Wayne Bradley.
Deputies responded to Bradley’s home on Gewant Boulevard on Sunday evening after receiving a report of someone not breathing inside the residence.
When officers arrived at the home, they discovered Bradley dead with multiple stab wounds.
Investigators also noticed that the victim’s vehicle was missing from the property.
Suspect Found With Victim’s Vehicle
After discovering the missing truck, investigators began searching for the vehicle.
Through investigative efforts, authorities tracked the pickup truck to nearby Sarasota County.
Deputies later found Shannon Giblin with the vehicle and took her into custody.
According to investigators, Giblin had been living at the home with Bradley as a roommate.
Suspect Allegedly Confessed to Stabbing
During questioning by deputies, authorities say Giblin admitted to stabbing Bradley after the two got into an argument.
Investigators said that after realizing the victim had died, she allegedly covered Bradley’s body with a tarp before leaving the house in his truck.
