Father Reported Missing After Visiting Family
According to investigators, Andres Bahamon-Prada was last seen on May 7 after visiting his mother in Williston, Florida. Authorities said he later went to the gym but was never seen or heard from again.
Family members became worried when they could not contact him by phone.
Court documents state that the missing man’s mother sent a message to her grandson, Andres Bahamon, asking where his father was. The suspect allegedly responded by saying he did not know where his father was.
However, police records say he also made a strange statement, telling his grandmother that his father was “preventing the flower from blooming.”
That unusual comment later became part of the investigation.
Grandmother Reportedly Told Police About Confession
More than a week after the disappearance, the grandmother reportedly saw Bahamon at a local store.
According to court documents, she later informed police that her grandson confessed during the encounter and allegedly told her he had killed his father.
Authorities say this statement became a major turning point in the investigation.
Investigators from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office officially began looking into the disappearance on May 16. During the investigation, detectives reportedly found signs of foul play and started treating the case as a possible homicide.
Human Remains Found Buried on Property
While carrying out a search warrant at the home where both father and son lived, investigators discovered troubling evidence outside the residence.
Police said detectives found:
- A bullet near the porch area
- Recently disturbed dirt in the yard
- Human remains wrapped inside a carpet
Authorities confirmed the remains have not yet been officially identified, but investigators believe they are connected to the missing person case.
The discovery led to even greater suspicion surrounding Bahamon.
Police Say Suspect Sent Photo of Dead Body
Court documents also reveal that investigators believe Bahamon sent disturbing text messages to his mother, who lives in Germany.
According to police, he allegedly sent her an image that appeared to show his father’s dead body. The suspect’s mother then reportedly forwarded the image to the grandmother and urged her to contact emergency services immediately.
Court records say the message included a warning from Bahamon telling his mother not to “get in his way.”
Authorities stated that the grandmother later begged Bahamon to tell her whether her son was alive or dead.
Police say he responded by saying, “I think he’s dead,” and allegedly added that his father was “in hell where he deserves to be.”
Suspect Allegedly Refused to Cooperate
Sheriff’s deputies later located Bahamon and brought him in for questioning.
According to investigators, he refused to cooperate during interviews with police.
Authorities arrested him on a charge of tampering with evidence connected to the disappearance investigation. He is currently being held at the Marion County Jail without bond.
His next scheduled court appearance is set for June 23.
Investigation Continues as Homicide Case
Even though police have not yet officially identified the human remains, investigators say the case is now being treated as a homicide investigation because of the evidence discovered so far.
Authorities are expected to continue forensic testing, examine digital evidence, and interview additional witnesses as the case moves forward.
Cases involving missing family members often become emotionally devastating for relatives, especially when investigators suspect violence inside the home. This case has shocked many local residents due to the disturbing allegations, the alleged messages sent to family members, and the discovery of remains buried at the property.
As the investigation continues, police are expected to release more information once the remains are positively identified and additional evidence is reviewed.
