A shocking crime from Florida has left people disturbed, as a 19-year-old allegedly murdered a man in his neighbourhood and later confessed the chilling details to his girlfriend. The case has raised serious concerns about violent intentions, mental state, and how such crimes unfold unnoticed.
What Happened in the Florida Case
Lucas Jones, a 19-year-old from Indialantic, Florida, has been accused of brutally killing 28-year-old Colie Daniel. According to police reports, Jones attacked Daniel using a baseball bat and later dismembered his body.
The crime came to light after Daniel’s remains were discovered on March 28 in an area known as the “Compound” in Palm Bay. Authorities found body parts inside a suitcase after vultures were seen circling the area.
Reason Behind the Alleged Murder
Police say Jones told his girlfriend that he targeted Daniel because he was a registered sex offender living nearby. Records confirm that Daniel had been convicted in 2018 for a sexual offence involving a minor.
Investigators also found that Jones had printed a list of sex offenders in his area, and Daniel’s name was reportedly on that list. This suggests the act may have been planned in advance.
Disturbing Confession to Girlfriend
The case took a darker turn when Jones allegedly confessed everything to his girlfriend. He reportedly told her, “I killed somebody and cut him up,” shortly after the crime.
She later told police that Jones described how he used multiple tools, including a cleaver, saw, and knife, to dismember the body. He also allegedly collected the victim’s blood and stored it on microscope slides.

Victim Reported Missing
Colie Daniel’s parents reported him missing on March 22 after he failed to return home. He had told them he was visiting a house about a mile away — which was later identified as Jones’ residence.
Using a tracking feature on his device, the parents located his phone at Jones’ home. When they went there, Jones confirmed Daniel was inside but refused to let anyone enter.
Police were called to the scene, but since Daniel was not yet officially reported missing at that time, no immediate action was taken.

According to the investigation, Jones had already begun cleaning the crime scene when police and the victim’s parents first visited his home.
