A disturbing murder case in Pennsylvania has taken a shocking turn after authorities accused a 23-year-old man of killing his own father and then allegedly trying to make it look like suicide.
Investigators say what first appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot quickly raised serious questions after police found signs of a violent struggle, blood evidence, and multiple conflicting statements from the victim’s son. Now, the young man is facing one of the most serious criminal charges possible.
Pennsylvania Man Charged With Killing His Father
Justin Wilson, 23, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 61-year-old father, Kevin Wilson.
According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, the fatal shooting happened on February 1, 2026, inside Kevin Wilson’s home on Dewees Place in Trappe, Pennsylvania.
In addition to murder, Justin Wilson also faces several other criminal charges, including:
- Tampering with evidence
- Filing false reports to law enforcement
- Possession of an instrument of crime
Authorities say the evidence points to a planned attempt to make the killing appear to be suicide.
911 Call Claimed Father Shot Himself
According to investigators, Pennsylvania State Police received a 911 call at around 12:19 a.m.
The caller was Justin Wilson.
Police say Justin told the dispatcher that his father had shot himself following an argument about parenting.
He also reportedly told emergency operators that the handgun was still in his father’s hand.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they found Kevin Wilson lying on his bed with a single gunshot wound to the head.
Ammunition was reportedly found on the floor near his feet.
At first glance, the scene appeared to support Justin’s story—but investigators soon noticed troubling evidence.
Police Found Signs of a Violent Struggle
According to the probable cause affidavit, investigators discovered multiple signs suggesting a physical confrontation had happened inside the home.
Evidence reportedly included:
- A tipped-over potted plant
- Overturned laundry baskets
- A broken bedroom door frame
- Wood fragments scattered across the floor
Investigators believed the damage was inconsistent with a simple suicide scene.
Blood Evidence Raised More Questions
Police also reportedly noticed blood on Justin Wilson when they interviewed him.
According to investigators, blood was found on:
- Both of his cheeks
- His hoodie
- Shorts
- Socks
- Sneakers
- Around his fingernails and fingers
Authorities also documented a cut on one of his fingers.
This physical evidence reportedly became a major focus of the investigation.
Justin Wilson Gave Multiple Conflicting Stories
Investigators say Justin’s explanation changed several times during questioning.
In one version, he allegedly told officers that he confronted his father after becoming emotionally upset while watching a UFC fight together.
According to police, Justin admitted calling his father a “bad father” and demanding repayment for years of emotional abuse.
He allegedly claimed his father then went into his bedroom.
In another version, Justin reportedly said he barged into the room, argued with his father, told him to shoot himself, and then walked away before hearing the gunshot.
Later, investigators say he changed his story again.
This time, Justin allegedly claimed he went to his own room to play Fortnite while wearing a gaming headset and heard the gunshot from there.
Police say these inconsistent statements raised major concerns.
Investigators Say His Comments Were ‘Illogical’
According to court documents, investigators described several of Justin’s statements as unusual and difficult to explain.
Police say he made comments about his handgun being “self-firing” and mentioned information he had read online.
Investigators also claim he made strange remarks about whether parents should be blamed when children commit crimes.
These statements reportedly added to investigators’ suspicion.
Family Members Raised Concerns About Relationship
As detectives dug deeper, family members reportedly described a troubled relationship between father and son.
According to court records, Kevin Wilson’s relatives said Justin had often insulted and humiliated his father.
Family members claimed he frequently called Kevin hurtful names and blamed him for ruining his life.
One relative reportedly told police that Kevin had previously said he slept with a gun nearby because he was afraid of his son.
Another family member said Kevin had recently appeared happier than he had been in years, actively attending church and participating in social groups.
Relatives reportedly told investigators they did not believe Kevin would have taken his own life.
Serious Murder Case Moves Forward
With first-degree murder charges now filed, Justin Wilson faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted.
The case has deeply shocked the local Pennsylvania community, especially because of the disturbing allegations involving a father and son.
What began as a reported suicide has now turned into a complex homicide investigation involving forensic evidence, witness testimony, and multiple conflicting statements. As prosecutors move forward, Kevin Wilson’s family hopes the legal process will finally reveal exactly what happened inside that home on the night of February 1.
