A disturbing murder case in New York has shocked the community after a man was arrested months after his wife’s remains were discovered in separate locations. Investigators say the suspect allegedly tried to hide evidence by dismembering the victim’s body and dumping the remains in different areas. The case unfolded over several months before police gathered enough evidence to make an arrest.
Husband Arrested in Wife’s Dismemberment Case
Authorities in New York have arrested 75-year-old Rupchand Simboo in connection with the death of his wife, 34-year-old Salisha Ali.
Police say Ali was last seen alive on July 13, 2025, at the couple’s home. About a week later, Simboo reported her missing.
After months of investigation, Simboo was arrested on March 11 and charged with murder and concealment of a human corpse. During his court appearance, a judge ordered that he be held without bail.
Torso Found in Wooded Area
The investigation took a major turn on September 22, 2025, when sanitation workers discovered a human torso in a wooded area.
The remains were wrapped in a moving blanket and secured with rope and plastic wrap.
Authorities later confirmed the remains belonged to Salisha Ali. The discovery raised serious concerns about how the victim had been killed and why the body had been disposed of in such a manner.
Forensic Evidence Suggests Body Was Dismembered
Investigators consulted a forensic anthropologist to examine the remains.
According to police officials, the expert believed that sharp tools were used to cut through the soft tissue, while a saw was likely used to cut through the bones.
This finding suggested that the victim’s body had been deliberately dismembered before being discarded.
Evidence Found During Home Search
Police executed a search warrant at Simboo’s home on October 17, 2025.
During the search, investigators reportedly found materials in the garage that matched those used to wrap and bind the victim’s torso.
These items became important pieces of evidence in the case.
More Remains Discovered Months Later
The investigation continued into 2026, when additional remains believed to belong to Ali were discovered.
On March 5, authorities found one of her arms, her head, and her legs at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge.
The discovery helped investigators gather more evidence about the suspected crime.
Phone Data Links Suspect to Locations
Detectives also examined digital evidence from Simboo’s mobile phone.
According to investigators, the Life360 location tracking app showed his phone near the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge on July 14, 2025.
His phone also allegedly showed activity near the wooded area where Ali’s torso was found on July 15, 2025.
Authorities believe this data helped connect the suspect to both locations where the remains were discovered.
Prosecutors Describe Brutal Crime
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz spoke about the seriousness of the case after the arrest.
She stated that the suspect allegedly went to extreme lengths to avoid responsibility by disposing of the victim’s remains in remote areas and attempting to hide important evidence.
Prosecutors say these actions were part of an effort to cover up the crime.
Victim Recently Moved to the United States
Salisha Ali worked as a home health aide and originally came from Trinidad and Tobago.
Before getting married in 2024, Ali and Simboo were reportedly in a long-distance relationship.
After their marriage, she moved to the United States to live with him.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Authorities have not yet revealed the exact circumstances surrounding Ali’s death or the specific cause of death.
Investigators continue to examine evidence as the case moves through the legal system.
Simboo is expected to appear in court again on March 16.
