A disturbing incident from Kentucky has come to light, where a domestic argument between a married couple turned deadly. Authorities say a woman has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting her husband during a fight at their home.
What Happened at the Couple’s Home
The incident took place on Tuesday evening at a house on Red Banks Road in Cumberland County, Kentucky. According to police, the couple — Heather Edens and her husband James Edens — were involved in a heated argument.
During the fight, Heather reportedly asked her husband to leave the house. Things quickly escalated, and she allegedly pulled out a gun and fired at him.
Victim Tried to Leave but Could Not Survive
After being shot, James Edens got into his vehicle. Reports suggest he had suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and was bleeding heavily while inside the car.
Authorities were initially alerted about both a shooting and a single-vehicle crash. When officers reached the scene, they found James inside the vehicle with serious injuries.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, doctors could not save him.
Police Investigation and Statement
The Kentucky State Police joined the investigation after being requested by the local sheriff’s office. During questioning, Heather Edens reportedly admitted that she shot her husband during the argument.
She also claimed that the bullet may have deflected after hitting the ground, which could explain how he was injured.
Police are continuing to examine the exact sequence of events to understand what fully happened that night.
Charges Filed Against the Accused
Heather Edens, 52, has been officially charged with murder. She was taken into custody and is currently being held in jail.
Authorities have set her bond at $1 million, which means she must pay that amount to be released before trial.
What Happens Next
Heather Edens is expected to appear in court on April 22. During this hearing, the court will review the case and decide the next legal steps.
The investigation is still ongoing, and more details may come out as authorities continue to gather evidence.
