Travis Juhr, a 41-year-old military veteran from Oregon, was arrested last week on new charges just moments after appearing in court for allegedly threatening President Donald Trump and supporters of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a series of social media posts. Juhr is accused of making violent threats while stockpiling firearms, explosives, and other weapons.
Arrested on Multiple Charges After Court Appearance
Juhr was taken into custody on Friday at a federal courthouse in Portland after pleading not guilty to charges related to his online threats against Trump, ICE supporters, and other public officials. He was arrested on multiple charges, including second-degree arson, reckless burning, and criminal mischief, in connection with a vandalism incident near the ICE building in Portland on February 3.
The arrest came just after Juhr entered his plea for the threats case stemming from Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) posts allegedly made last year.
Alleged Threats Against Trump and ICE Supporters
One of the posts reportedly made by Juhr stated, “I can’t wait till Trump is dead,” which was flagged to the U.S. Secret Service. The federal complaint also alleges that Juhr threatened to “mag dump Trump,” referring to firing multiple rounds into the former president. Additionally, Juhr allegedly targeted a Nevada commissioner and a mother-son duo who participated in an ICE counterprotest.
Prosecutors described the threats as chilling, with Juhr allegedly writing to the 13-year-old boy, “Divine punishment will be the price for your wickedness,” and “Jesus can’t save you from what’s coming.”
Targeting ICE Building in Portland
Juhr is also accused of involvement in an arson attack near the ICE building in Portland’s South Waterfront neighborhood. The ICE building had been a focal point for anti-ICE demonstrations, with Juhr reportedly participating in protests while wearing a bomber-style jacket and holding a Captain America shield.
Federal investigators have said that Juhr was one of the individuals who targeted the building during the February vandalism incident, which reportedly involved setting fires and other acts of destruction.
Juhr’s Weapon Cache and Threats to Law Enforcement
In February, the FBI arrested Juhr after executing a search warrant at his home, where they found a large cache of weapons, including AR-style rifles, shotguns, and Tannerite explosives. A Portland police officer had previously sought an extreme risk protection order against Juhr due to his alleged threats of violence toward law enforcement officers and his hostility toward government officials.
Juhr was reportedly becoming increasingly dangerous, with authorities expressing concerns about his growing desire to use lethal force. His social media posts included statements like, “I’m coming down to Nevada for you” and “I love a challenge when hunting my PREY. #MAGAHuntersPDX.”
Juhr’s Military Background and Personal Life
Juhr’s defense attorney described him as a U.S. Navy veteran with 10 years of active duty experience, including five years with the U.S. Coast Guard. He also received training as a paramedic and rescue swimmer. Juhr’s social media profiles, which have since been deactivated, indicated that he studied cybersecurity at Mt. Hood Community College and worked as a voice and network engineer.
Additionally, Juhr reportedly posted on LinkedIn last month that he was starting a new job as an IT systems architect for the state of Oregon, but a spokesperson from the state confirmed that he was not employed at the time of his arrest.
Legal Proceedings and Public Safety Concerns
Juhr’s arrest and the disturbing nature of his threats have raised significant concerns about public safety, especially considering his military background and access to weapons. As the case progresses, more details about his alleged plans and the extent of his stockpiled weapons are expected to emerge.
The case highlights growing concerns over the use of social media to incite violence and the challenges of addressing domestic threats posed by individuals with military experience and access to dangerous weapons.
