A 21-year-old man in Texas has been arrested and charged with the murder of his 68-year-old grandmother. The accused, Rontrell Jackson, allegedly shot the victim after a heated argument over his allowance and then dragged her body outside to the patio, covering it with a blanket.
Incident Details
On Friday at 4:40 p.m., Arlington police responded to a call from a family member reporting an unresponsive woman found outside her apartment. The caller stated that they discovered the victim on the patio, covered with a blanket. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene shortly after, determining the woman had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation and Arrest
During the investigation, detectives learned about a confrontation between Jackson and the victim earlier that day. The argument reportedly centered around Jackson losing his allowance money. When questioned by authorities, Jackson allegedly confessed to shooting his grandmother inside the apartment and dragging her body outside to the patio.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Jackson and later took him into custody. A search of the apartment revealed a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
Victim’s Identity
As of Monday afternoon, authorities had not yet released the identity of the victim. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to disclose her name after notifying next of kin and will determine the official cause and manner of death.
