The body cam footage of Justin Timberlake’s DWI arrest from June 2024 has been released, despite the pop star’s efforts to prevent its public release. Timberlake, 45, was arrested after being pulled over in Long Island, New York, for driving while intoxicated.
Arrest Footage Details
In the released footage, Timberlake is seen speaking with police after being pulled over. He tells officers, “Guys, I’m just following my friends back to my house.” When questioned about his vehicle, Timberlake clarifies that he is in a rental car and mentions he is currently on a world tour. The officer proceeds to ask for his driver’s license and vehicle registration before instructing Timberlake to exit the vehicle to perform sobriety tests.
Sobriety Tests and Arrest
During the sobriety tests, Timberlake is heard saying, “These are, like, hard tests,” and expresses anxiety, stating, “My heart’s racing.” The musician had just left the American Hotel and restaurant in Long Island and was accompanied by designer Estee Stanley and her husband Bryan Furst.
Stanley later asks the officer for clarification and offers to drive Timberlake, but the officer explains that Timberlake had already been driving, and they needed to ensure he wasn’t impaired. Moments later, Timberlake is handcuffed and taken into custody. The officer informs Stanley that Timberlake “failed every single test” and would be taken to the Sag Harbor police station until he could see a judge the following morning.
Legal Battle and Release of Footage
Timberlake had initially filed a petition to block the release of the body cam footage, claiming that it would cause irreparable harm to his personal and professional reputation. The singer argued that the footage would subject him to public ridicule and harassment and serve no legitimate public interest.
However, on March 20, 2025, Timberlake reached a settlement with the Sag Harbor Village Police Department. Under the terms of the agreement, a redacted version of the footage could be released to the public. The court documents clarified that the release would not constitute an “unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.”
Timberlake’s Plea Deal
Timberlake was arrested on June 18, 2024, for driving while intoxicated and received two citations for running a stop sign and failure to maintain his lane. Timberlake’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., maintained that the singer was “not intoxicated” at the time of his arrest. In September 2024, Timberlake reached a plea deal, agreeing to plead guilty to a lesser offense.
