Four women were left injured after a stabbing incident at Zaya Restaurant in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, March 22. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to the scene at around 5:30 p.m. following a report of the attack.
The Incident and the Argument
The altercation reportedly took place as a group of diners was finishing their meal. According to reports from ABC7, the Los Angeles Times, and NBC Los Angeles, an argument broke out among the group, escalating into violence.
Victims and Injuries
Authorities confirmed that two women were stabbed with a knife, while a third woman was injured by a bottle. A fourth woman suffered a laceration to her neck. She exited the restaurant but remains unlocated.
Two of the injured women were detained at the scene before being transported to the hospital. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the victims were described as mild to moderate, including lacerations to the arms and back. The LAPD has stated that no additional suspects are being sought in connection with the crime.
Zaya Restaurant’s Response
Zaya Restaurant issued a statement on their Instagram Stories acknowledging the incident. They emphasized their commitment to the safety of both guests and staff, expressing gratitude for the swift actions taken by their team and the support from local law enforcement and emergency responders.
“While some situations develop unexpectedly and are beyond our control, the safety of our guests and staff remains our highest priority,” Zaya Restaurant wrote.
Authorities’ Statement
The LAPD has not identified any further suspects involved in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
