The Incident
The situation unfolded when a casino security guard at Hominy Casino reported a suspicious vehicle parked on the premises after hours. The guard noted that a person, later identified as Santale Lamont Cephus II, exited the vehicle carrying a black backpack and walked toward the nearby Dick Conner Correctional Facility. The driver, Jalen Cortez Mack, remained in the vehicle.
Upon arriving at the scene, Osage County deputies conducted a brief search and found Mack lying in the grass, attempting to hide. Both individuals were detained, and deputies began a search of the backpack carried by Cephus. The search yielded several cellphones, drugs, nicotine vape devices, cigars, loose tobacco, lighters, and other contraband items.
Arrests and Charges
Both Mack and Cephus were arrested on complaints of trafficking and possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. Law enforcement has yet to release specific details on the exact drugs found in their possession, but the discovery of the cellphones suggests the possibility of communication and coordination with individuals inside the correctional facility.
