A New Jersey man has pleaded guilty to the brutal murder of his pregnant girlfriend after prosecutors said he attacked her with a baseball bat and later tried to stage the scene to look like an accidental fall. The disturbing case has shocked many people after investigators revealed details about the alleged cleanup attempt and the tragic death of both the woman and her unborn child.
Authorities say the victim, 25-year-old Leslianette Quintana-Betancourt, was killed inside the couple’s home in Pleasantville in December 2024.
New Jersey Man Pleads Guilty to Murder
Boris Lainez-Rosales, 28, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in connection with the death of his live-in girlfriend.
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Lainez-Rosales admitted that he assaulted Quintana-Betancourt with a baseball bat inside their home on Dec. 2, 2024.
Prosecutors said the victim was pregnant at the time of the attack.
The unborn child also died due to the assault.
Witness Heard Couple Arguing Before Attack
Court documents state that another person inside the home heard the couple arguing for nearly two hours that night.
The witness reportedly went downstairs to check on the situation but was told everything was fine and sent back upstairs by Lainez-Rosales.
A short time later, he allegedly used the witness’s phone to call 911.
When police and emergency workers arrived, they found Quintana-Betancourt’s body at the bottom of a staircase.
Investigators Suspected Crime Scene Was Staged
Authorities quickly became suspicious after examining the scene.
According to investigators:
- There were no blood stains near the staircase
- The victim’s body reportedly smelled of bleach
- Blood was found throughout the basement living area
- Police noticed signs of attempted cleanup inside the home
Investigators also said Lainez-Rosales had cuts on his hands when officers questioned him.
He allegedly claimed the victim had fallen down the stairs.
Police Found Bloody Baseball Bat
During a search of the property, police reportedly discovered a baseball bat with blood stains in the backyard.
Investigators also recovered a trash bag from Lainez-Rosales’ vehicle that allegedly had hair attached to it.
The evidence led to his arrest shortly after the incident.
He was later formally indicted for murder in February 2025.

Friends and loved ones have shared emotional tributes for Quintana-Betancourt online.
