Authorities say a wind-driven wildfire has spread into an auto body shop in Oklahoma City

A wildfire fueled by strong winds sparked a major response from multiple fire companies in northwest Oklahoma City on Monday afternoon. The fire, which began in a wooded area southeast of the body shop, quickly spread towards the building before fire crews could reach the scene due to the intensity of the wind.

Firefighters’ Efforts and Safety Measures

Oklahoma City Fire Battalion Chief Andrew McCann provided an update, confirming that the wildfire is now contained. However, fire crews are still working to extinguish remaining hot spots, especially in the surrounding wooded area.

Inside the auto body shop, the fire has been controlled and fully extinguished. Firefighters are currently ventilating the building to gain access and assess the damage.

Successful Evacuation and Safety of Occupants

McCann reported that all five employees inside the building at the time of the fire were able to self-evacuate without injury. There have been no reports of injuries to either the occupants or the firefighters.

“Fortunately, there were five occupants of the structure, all employees of the business. They all self-evacuated and are reporting no injuries. I also have no injuries to firefighters at this time,” McCann stated.

Cause of the Fire Still Unknown

At this point, the cause of the wildfire remains undetermined. McCann emphasized that no speculation would be made until an official investigation is completed.

Crews Continue Working on Hot Spots

Fire crews remain on the scene, continuing to address any remaining hot spots and ensure the fire does not reignite.
