According to prosecutors in Hennepin County, the officer, Greg Morgan, was returning after finishing his shift in early February. While driving, he used the shoulder of the road, which is usually meant only for emergencies. Prosecutors said that Morgan then drove his car close to that vehicle and pointed his firearm out of his window at the passengers inside. Charges Filed Against the Officer
Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced that Morgan is facing two counts of second-degree assault. These charges suggest that his actions were serious enough to put others in danger.
The case progressed quickly compared to others because there was clear evidence from road cameras, and Morgan also spoke to investigators. During questioning, he admitted that he drew his firearm after the other vehicle had already moved back into normal traffic.
