A well-known social media influencer has landed in legal trouble after being accused of a robbery at a luxury hotel in Florida. The incident has caught attention online, especially because of the influencer’s large following and the high-value items involved.
What Happened at the Hotel
The incident took place on April 12 at The Breakers Palm Beach, a famous luxury hotel. Police received a complaint about a burglary inside one of the hotel rooms.
According to reports, the room’s door had been left slightly open. This is when two individuals, who were also staying at the same hotel, allegedly entered the room without permission.
Who Are the Accused
The main suspect is Gino Gusich, a 35-year-old influencer known online as @hellandahandbag. He reportedly had over 3 lakh followers on Instagram before his account was taken down.
He was accompanied by Stephanie Lichay, also 35, and both are said to be residents of Illinois.
Expensive Items Involved
Court documents revealed that several luxury items were taken from the room. These included:
- A Hermès Mini Kelly bag worth around $32,000
- A Chanel handbag valued at about $1,500
- Cash and other accessories
These are high-end designer items, making the case more serious due to the value involved.
CCTV Footage and Confrontation
Hotel security cameras reportedly captured the entire incident. The footage shows both suspects entering the room and later being confronted by the victim.
After the confrontation, the items were returned. However, the act of entering the room and taking belongings still led to legal action.
Arrest and Charges
Both Gusich and Lichay were arrested early in the morning around 2:26 a.m. Later, they were officially booked by the police.
They are now facing the following charges:
- Burglary (both accused)
- Larceny charges (against Gusich)
- Grand theft charges between $20,000 and $100,000 (against Lichay)
Defence Statement
Both accused have pleaded not guilty. Their lawyer has described the situation as a “misunderstanding.”
According to the defence, there was no intention to steal or cheat anyone. The lawyer also mentioned that the incident happened late at night and suggested that the situation may have been misinterpreted.
Hotel’s Response
The hotel management also released a statement after the incident. They explained that the issue happened because the guest had left their room door open.
They confirmed that the accused were also guests staying on the same floor, which made it easier for them to enter the room.
The hotel added that guest safety and security remain their top priority.
