Cothran reportedly kidnapped his 17-year-old girlfriend after leaving a late-night party in Tulsa. The victim attempted to escape at a gas station near 31st and Memorial, seeking help from a bystander in a Jeep. While the Good Samaritan initially drove her away from Cothran, he pursued them until reaching a dead-end near 15th Street.
Cothran reportedly beat the Good Samaritan before taking control of the girl and continuing the high-speed chase, which ended in Rogers County.
Shooting and Self-Inflicted Death
Rogers County deputies were alerted to an erratic driver but were unaware of Cothran’s intentions. When police activated their lights, Cothran shot at his girlfriend four times, claiming that if police engaged, he would kill both of them. Fortunately, the victim was unharmed.
Earlier, he also fired multiple rounds at the Jeep driven by the Good Samaritan, but no one was hit.
