Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler announced that Christopher Leiter has been convicted of first-degree murder in connection with a 2024 shooting in north Tulsa.
A jury found Leiter guilty in the death of Greg Dumas and recommended a life sentence. His official sentencing will take place at a later date.
Drug Deal Led to Deadly Chain of Events
According to investigators, the incident began on May 23, 2024, near North Harvard Avenue and East Admiral Court during a planned drug transaction.
Authorities said Christopher Leiter and his brother, James Leiter, arrived separately. A third man, identified as Noah Crisman, approached James’ vehicle and exchanged money for drugs.
Shortly after, James realized the money he received was counterfeit and reportedly told his brother to pursue Crisman.
Gunfire Erupts and Innocent Man Killed
Investigators say Crisman fired shots at both brothers before running toward a nearby house.
In response, Christopher Leiter allegedly fired approximately 10 shots into the home. At the time, five people were inside.
Greg Dumas, who was not involved in the drug deal and was visiting a friend, was struck by gunfire and died at the scene.
Suspects Fled Before Arrest
Following the shooting, authorities said Christopher and James Leiter fled in separate vehicles, while Crisman escaped on foot.
After an investigation, all three individuals were arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Status of Co-Defendants
James Leiter previously entered a guilty plea to first-degree manslaughter in March. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison, along with financial penalties.
Noah Crisman’s case is still ongoing. His trial is scheduled to begin on April 13.
