A pizza delivery in Missouri reportedly turned violent after an argument over a tip ended with a delivery driver allegedly using his car to hit a customer before speeding away, according to police.
The accused, identified as Zachary Nicholos Walton, 35, has been arrested and is now facing serious felony charges, including first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and leaving the scene of an accident.
The shocking incident happened in Fulton, a city located about 165 miles east of Kansas City.
Tip Dispute Turns Into Violent Confrontation
According to investigators from the Fulton Police Department, officers responded to a home on Bluff Street shortly after 7:20 p.m. following reports of a crash involving injuries.
Emergency callers told dispatchers that a delivery driver from Domino’s Pizza had become angry after not receiving a tip and allegedly struck a customer with his vehicle before fleeing the area.
When first responders arrived, they spoke with the victim and a witness, who both described a heated argument that quickly escalated.
Driver Allegedly Became Angry Over No Tip
According to the victim, Walton became upset after not receiving a tip for the pizza delivery and started arguing with people at the home.
Police say the verbal argument grew more aggressive, and Walton allegedly shouted profanities during the confrontation.
Investigators later reviewed security camera footage from the home, which reportedly showed Walton yelling offensive language and insulting the victim and witness before returning to his vehicle.
Witnesses told officers he could be heard shouting, “You’re rude,” along with several profane remarks as tensions continued to rise.
Security Footage Captures Alleged Vehicle Attack
According to the probable cause affidavit, surveillance footage allegedly showed Walton backing his vehicle toward the street before suddenly shifting into drive and accelerating toward the victim.
Police say the victim was walking up the driveway and was not blocking Walton’s path when the vehicle moved toward him.
The impact reportedly threw the victim onto the hood of another parked car. Authorities said the victim suffered visible injuries to his hand, along with pain and scrapes to his leg.
Investigators believe the victim avoided even more serious injuries by jumping onto the hood during the collision.
Suspect Allegedly Fled Scene After Impact
After the incident, police say Walton drove away from the scene at a high speed without stopping to help the injured victim or contact authorities.
Officers later tracked him down at a local Domino’s Pizza location, where he was taken into custody.
According to investigators, Walton admitted he drove toward the victim but claimed he only meant to scare him. He also reportedly acknowledged leaving the scene after the collision.
Prior Criminal History Raises Concern
Court records show Walton has a previous conviction in Callaway County involving domestic assault and false imprisonment, for which he previously served jail time.
Authorities say his decision to allegedly use a vehicle during the confrontation, combined with fleeing the scene, shows a serious threat to public safety.
Walton is currently being held without bond at the Callaway County Jail as he awaits his next court appearance.
