A shocking crime unfolded after a man was found dismembered in a storage tote. Authorities have arrested two people in connection with the death.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by KMID, a man called police on May 11, claiming he had witnessed a homicide and requested a welfare check. Officers went to the trailer home but received no response. A neighbor said the resident often engaged in suspicious activity.
When authorities could not reach 43-year-old Sandra Elizabeth Ramos, they obtained her phone number from the witness and tried to arrange a meeting at the property. Ramos reportedly did not show up.
Investigation Details
Authorities interviewed 31-year-old Victor Esparza, the man who claimed he had witnessed the homicide. Esparza reportedly gave police a cellphone belonging to Ramos. He told authorities that the victim, whose name has not been released, was involved in a dispute over Cash App money.
Esparza said Ramos allegedly picked him and the victim up and took them to the residence, where several people were using methamphetamine. During the visit, Ramos allegedly FaceTimed someone and discussed assaulting the victim.
The Alleged Attack
According to reports from KBTX, Esparza said Ramos held him at gunpoint while the victim was assaulted. The victim was allegedly beaten with a baseball bat, stabbed, and then placed in a plastic storage tote.
Esparza also claimed that Ramos forced him to shower and change clothes, then made him help dismember the victim using a hacksaw. Another witness alleged that Esparza actively participated in the attack by stomping on and strangling the victim.
Discovery of the Remains
On May 12, authorities gained access to the home through the homeowner, who said he had repeatedly tried to get Ramos to move out. Inside the home, dismembered remains were found in a storage bin in the primary suite’s bathroom. An air conditioner unit was reportedly blowing cold air directly onto the bin.
