A serious legal case from Oklahoma shows how online threats can lead to strong action by authorities. A man has been found guilty by a federal jury after posting threats on social media against law enforcement officers.
Man Found Guilty Over Online Threats
A 26-year-old man, Logan Christopher Murfin, from Skiatook in Tulsa County, has been convicted for making threatening posts on the social media platform X.
The federal jury found him guilty of making multiple posts where he threatened to kill, shoot, and harm agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Charges Filed Against Him
Murfin was convicted on a total of ten charges. These include:
- Five counts of threatening to assault and murder federal law enforcement officers
- Five counts of sending interstate communications containing threats
Authorities said these threats were made with the intention to intimidate and interfere with federal officers.
How the Case Was Investigated
The case began in October 2025 when Homeland Security Investigations received an intelligence report. The report flagged several threatening posts made on X.
The posts came from an account with the username “Azulenq.” These messages talked about harming and shooting ICE agents.
After this, investigators:
- Got a search warrant
- Collected online data
- Identified Murfin as the person behind the account
This evidence was later presented in court.
Arrest and Admission
Murfin was indicted by a federal grand jury in December 2025. After his arrest, authorities said he admitted to making the posts.
During questioning, he told agents that he was angry at ICE officers. A recording of this interview was played in court during the trial.
Officials React to the Verdict
Clint Johnson, the U.S. Attorney, said that threats against federal officers will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted strictly under the law.
Another official, Travis Pickard, said the verdict shows how seriously such threats are taken. He also mentioned that there has been an increase in threats and violence against law enforcement officers in recent times.
What Happens Next
Murfin’s sentencing has not yet been decided. A court date will be scheduled soon where the judge will announce his punishment.
Why This Case Is Important
This case highlights how online actions can have real-world consequences. Posting threats on social media, even without acting on them, is considered a serious crime.
It also shows that:
- Law enforcement closely monitors online threats
- Digital evidence can be used in court
- Authorities take threats to public officials very seriously
The conviction of Logan Christopher Murfin is a clear example of how seriously the law treats threats made against federal officers, even when they are posted online. While social media gives people a platform to express opinions, it does not allow threats or violence.
This case sends a strong message that such behaviour can lead to strict legal action. As investigations and monitoring improve, individuals must be more careful about what they post online, as even a single message can result in serious consequences and long-term impact on their life.
