Possible Drive-By Shooting Under Investigation
Investigators have not yet confirmed a motive, suspect, or arrests.
However, local reports suggest the shooting may have been a drive-by attack that happened outside a liquor store near the intersection.
Crime scene investigators reportedly marked dozens of pieces of evidence, including shell casings, as they processed the area late into the night.
Officials Describe Scene as Chaotic
Alex Mendez, a Paterson councilman whose office is located nearby, said he and volunteers had to run for cover after hearing gunfire.
He described the situation as frightening and expressed frustration over continued violence in the city.
Mayor Responds to Violence
Andre Sayegh called the shooting a “senseless act of gun violence.”
The mayor noted that city officials have worked to reduce shootings in recent years but emphasized that even one act of gun violence is too many.
Second Mass Shooting in Recent Weeks

Investigators from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are now working alongside local police to determine exactly what happened.
