A shooting incident in Dewey, Oklahoma, early Monday morning has led to the arrest of a suspect, with police confirming that the victim is now in stable condition. Authorities say the situation appears to be isolated, and investigations are still ongoing.
Shooting Reported in Dewey
According to Jimmy Gray, multiple calls were made to dispatch reporting gunshots near 9th Street and Creek in Dewey, Oklahoma around 5:45 a.m. on April 20.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found several people gathered in the street and one injured man.
Victim Identified and Hospitalised
The victim was later identified as Chance Smith, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services quickly transported him to a hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Due to the seriousness of his injuries, Smith was later moved to a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he underwent surgery. Police have confirmed that he is now recovering and in stable condition.
Suspect Arrested Without Incident
Authorities later identified the suspect as Stephan Powell. He was located and taken into custody without any resistance.
According to court documents, Powell is now facing charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
