A tragic hit-and-run incident in Orange County, Florida, on Thursday night resulted in the death of a man in a wheelchair and his dog, while a woman was left critically injured. The driver involved in the crash fled the scene.
Crash Details
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Lee Road and Adanson Street. According to reports from the Orlando Sentinel, FOX 35, and ClickOrlando, a 2021 Lexus ES traveling eastbound veered off the road, struck a median, and hit two adults and a dog who were standing in the area.
Victims’ Conditions
The man in the wheelchair and the dog were pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, who was also struck by the vehicle, was transported to a nearby hospital in stable but critical condition. Authorities did not release her identity, but her injuries are reported to be severe.
Additional Damage and Driver Fleeing the Scene
Debris from the collision, including parts of the wheelchair, struck a 2006 Toyota Tacoma that was stopped in the westbound left-turn lane. The pickup’s driver was unharmed in the incident. After the crash, the Lexus continued eastbound and was later discovered abandoned in a nearby parking lot, showing damage consistent with the collision.
Ongoing Investigation
Officials are currently working to identify the driver of the Lexus. The case remains an active criminal investigation, and authorities are seeking information from the public to help locate the responsible individual.
