A Chicago mother of three was shocked to discover three strangers inside her apartment early Sunday morning, March 15. The incident occurred when 27-year-old Yanicee Miles returned home and found the individuals in her residence.
The Discovery
According to police, Miles arrived at her first-floor apartment around 8:23 a.m. on Sunday to find the strangers inside. Two of the individuals were arrested at the scene and charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago.
Previous Intrusions
Miles explained that the apartment complex, which is near abandonment, has seen previous incidents of unwanted visitors. She shared that just two weeks prior, she received a call while at work informing her that someone had kicked down her door.
“I did not expect to see anybody inside of my house at all,” Miles told FOX 32.
The Intruders
When Miles entered her apartment, she found two of the trespassers naked and in her bed. Miles managed to capture a video of the encounter, which shows the officers speaking to the individuals while she confronts them. “I work hard for my sh—, I got three f—ing babies,” she said in the video.
Emotional Impact
Miles expressed how the situation had left her traumatized, especially as she believes incidents like this may be happening more often in Chicago’s South Side. Despite the distress, Miles shared that her faith has been a source of strength in helping her cope with the experience.
“I really pray, and I’m praying is what got me through all of it,” she said. Miles also voiced empathy for the trespassers, expressing hope that they could find stable housing in the future.
