A Florida couple has been arrested after police say they attacked a mother in a public parking lot after confronting her about how she was disciplining her young son.
Florida Couple Arrested After Alleged Attack on Mother
Police in Florida have arrested Terry Williams, 66, and Mary Williams, 63, after they were accused of attacking a mother in front of her child during a confrontation over parenting.
The disturbing incident reportedly happened in a parking lot and quickly escalated into physical violence.
Argument Started Over Child Discipline
According to police, the mother told investigators that her 4-year-old son had been misbehaving in public and spit in her face after being reprimanded.
She told officers she disciplined the child by striking him once on the mouth and once on the side of his body.
Moments later, police say Terry Williams approached her and allegedly claimed he worked for child protection authorities, telling her she could not yell at or hit her child.
The mother reportedly told him to leave her alone, and he initially walked away.
Wife Allegedly Became More Aggressive
Police say Terry’s wife, Mary Williams, then approached the woman and continued questioning her parenting.
According to investigators, the mother was trying to place her child into her vehicle and leave the parking lot when Mary allegedly stood in her way and refused to move.
The mother told police that Mary blocked her path and prevented her from leaving with her son.
Fight Turned Violent
When the mother attempted to move past Mary, investigators say the situation became physical.
According to police, the woman alleged Mary:
- Scratched her neck
- Choked her until she nearly passed out
- Grabbed and pulled her clothing
Shortly afterward, Terry allegedly joined the struggle.
Police say he allegedly:
- Grabbed the woman’s shirt
- Pulled her hair
- Helped restrain her during the confrontation
Mother’s Shirt Torn Off During Struggle
According to the police report, the couple allegedly ripped the woman’s shirt completely off during the attack, leaving her standing in only her bra.
Investigators also say Mary allegedly entered the woman’s car, turned off the vehicle, and took the keys.
Witness Supports Victim’s Story
A witness at the scene reportedly told officers that the mother did not appear to be fighting back.
The witness claimed both suspects were grabbing and pulling the woman from opposite sides, appearing to force her toward the ground.
Police Found Visible Injuries
Officers documented injuries on the mother, including:
- Multiple scratches on her throat
- A cut on her lower lip
These injuries were reportedly consistent with her statement.
Charges Filed Against Both Suspects
Mary Williams was arrested and charged with:

Terry Williams was arrested on a battery charge.
