A domestic dispute in Ohio has led to serious criminal charges after a man was accused of choking his adult daughter during an argument over the condition of her bedroom.
According to investigators, what began as a family disagreement quickly turned violent, leaving both the daughter and her mother claiming they were physically assaulted. The incident has now resulted in the father facing domestic violence and felony strangulation charges.
Ohio Man Arrested After Allegedly Strangling Adult Daughter
Jeffrey Canzonetta, 56, has been arrested in Ohio after being accused of attacking his daughter and wife during a family argument.
According to authorities, Canzonetta now faces:
- Two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence
- One count of felony strangulation
The charges were announced by the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office.
Argument Started Over Bedroom Cleanliness
Investigators say the incident happened over the weekend at the family’s home on Warner Road in Vienna Township.
According to police reports, the situation began when Canzonetta entered his daughter’s bedroom to greet her.
Authorities say he became upset after seeing the condition of the room and allegedly began making negative comments about its cleanliness.
As the argument continued, investigators say he moved closer to his daughter while continuing to criticize her.
The woman reportedly asked her father several times to leave her room, but he allegedly refused.
Argument Turned Physical
Police say the verbal disagreement soon turned physical.
According to the daughter’s statement, Canzonetta was “acting crazy” and allegedly pushed both her and her mother during the confrontation.
The victim’s mother—who is also the suspect’s wife—told deputies she woke up after hearing loud shouting.
When she tried to step in and stop the argument, investigators say Canzonetta allegedly pushed her to the ground.
Daughter Says She Could Not Breathe
After seeing her mother pushed, the daughter reportedly grabbed her phone and tried to call 911.
Authorities say this is when Canzonetta allegedly grabbed her by the neck and began choking her.
According to the victim:
- He squeezed her neck tightly
- She struggled to breathe
- She feared for her safety during the attack
These allegations led investigators to add the felony strangulation charge.
Suspect Arrested Later That Day
By the time deputies arrived at the home, Canzonetta had already left the property.
Law enforcement later tracked him down at his workplace and took him into custody without incident.
He was booked into the county jail following his arrest.
Released After Posting Bond
Authorities say Canzonetta later posted a $7,500 bond and was released from custody.
He is scheduled to return to court on May 14 as the legal proceedings continue.
