A camping trip in Washington turned violent after a woman allegedly stabbed her husband during a domestic dispute at a remote mountain campground. Authorities say the husband was found with multiple stab wounds and had to be airlifted to a hospital, while his wife was taken into custody and now faces serious criminal charges.
911 Call Leads Deputies to Remote Campground
According to investigators, deputies from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 8:25 p.m. on April 9.
The caller, identified as the suspect, reportedly told emergency dispatchers that she had stabbed her husband after he allegedly “came after her.”
Authorities say she stayed on the phone and helped guide first responders to the couple’s remote campsite.
Incident Happened at Popular Mountain Campground
The stabbing happened at Ranger Creek Campground near Crystal Mountain.
The campground is known for hiking, scenic views, and wildlife sightings, including deer and elk.
Because of the isolated location near Alta Crystal Resort, deputies reportedly needed more than 30 minutes to reach the scene.
Victim Airlifted With Serious Injuries
When deputies arrived, they found a 48-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Emergency responders launched a multi-agency rescue effort, and the victim was quickly airlifted to a nearby hospital in serious condition.
Authorities have not yet publicly released his identity or provided an updated medical condition.
Woman Arrested on Domestic Violence Charge
The woman who made the 911 call was taken into custody at the scene.
Investigators say she has been booked on charges of first-degree assault involving domestic violence.
Investigators Reveal Disturbing Alleged Trigger
According to detectives, the violence may have started after the husband allegedly threw kittens out of the trailer during an argument.
Investigators claim the woman then grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him multiple times.
Authorities continue investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident, including whether self-defense may become part of the case.
