True crime fans are about to hear firsthand accounts from people who survived encounters with some of history’s most dangerous serial killers. The second season of People Magazine Investigates: Surviving a Serial Killer is set to return, bringing powerful survivor stories, in-depth reporting, and emotional interviews that reveal how these individuals escaped killers who terrorized entire communities.
Season 2 Returns With New Survivor Stories
The popular true crime series, produced by Investigation Discovery and PEOPLE, focuses on survivors who came face-to-face with notorious serial killers and somehow lived to tell the story.
According to producers, the new season will continue highlighting firsthand survivor experiences while combining investigative journalism with emotional storytelling.
Charlotte Triggs, Editor in Chief of PEOPLE and executive producer of the series, said the show aims to bring clarity, sensitivity, and deeper understanding to complex true crime cases while keeping survivors at the center of every episode.
Season Premiere Focuses on “The Butcher Baker”
The season premiere, titled Surviving the Butcher Baker, tells the chilling story of Cindy Paulson.
Paulson was a young woman living in Anchorage when she was kidnapped, assaulted, and tortured by one of America’s most infamous serial killers.
She later escaped and gave police critical information that helped investigators identify and arrest the killer.
Who Was the “Butcher Baker”?
Authorities eventually connected Paulson’s testimony to Robert Hansen, the notorious murderer known as the “Butcher Baker.”
Hansen terrorized Alaska for years, targeting vulnerable women before allegedly hunting them in remote wilderness areas.
His crimes shocked the nation and remain one of the most disturbing serial murder cases in U.S. history.
More Infamous Cases Ahead
The new season will also feature survivors connected to other notorious killers, including victims of John Wayne Gacy, often referred to as the “Killer Clown.”
Gacy was convicted of murdering more than 30 young men and boys in the Chicago area, making him one of America’s most infamous serial killers.
Upcoming episodes will reportedly feature survivors such as:
- David Bolton
- Patrick Dati
- Tony Antonucci
Each will share how they escaped and how those encounters changed their lives forever.
Why These Stories Matter
Unlike many true crime shows that focus mainly on killers, this series puts survivors at the center of the story.
Viewers will hear directly from the people who lived through unimaginable violence and whose courage helped bring dangerous predators to justice.
