A shocking case from Kentucky has led to attempted murder charges after a man allegedly attacked two people with a baseball bat over a dispute involving Wi-Fi access.
Investigators say the violent assault happened early Sunday morning after an argument about an internet connection turned into a brutal attack, leaving one victim seriously injured. The incident has stunned residents and now the accused faces multiple felony charges.
Kentucky Man Arrested After Brutal Baseball Bat Attack
44-year-old Jonathan Gross was arrested in Pulaski County after authorities accused him of attacking two people with a baseball bat.
Gross has been charged with:
- Two counts of attempted murder
- Two counts of third-degree terroristic threatening
- Second-degree disorderly conduct
- Alcohol intoxication in a public place
Police say the violent attack happened early Sunday morning in the small community of Ferguson.
Argument Over Wi-Fi Turned Violent
According to investigators, the victims had disconnected their home Wi-Fi connection, which Gross had reportedly been using.
Police say Gross confronted the couple and allegedly threatened to kill them if the internet service was not turned back on.
A short time later, investigators say he returned armed with a baseball bat and carried out the attack.
Victims Suffered Serious Injuries
Deputies responded to a home on Waddle Street around 5:43 a.m. after receiving an emergency call about an assault in progress.
When officers arrived, they found a female victim outside the residence suffering from a serious head injury and bleeding heavily. She told deputies she had been struck in the head with a baseball bat.
The male victim reportedly managed to escape the attack and contact emergency services.
Suspect Found Hiding Inside Home
According to authorities, Gross allegedly hid inside a bedroom after the attack. Deputies reportedly ordered him several times to come out peacefully, but he refused.
Officers eventually forced entry into the room and took him into custody without further violence.
$1 Million Bond Set
Gross is currently being held at the local detention center on a $1 million cash bond.
He made his first court appearance on Monday and is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on May 13.
