INDIAHOMA, Okla. — An Indiahoma man, Frank Reed Poafpybitty, 38, is facing serious charges following the death of another man, Brad Jones, on Tuesday.
Poafpybitty has been charged with first-degree murder, unlawful removal of a dead body, and unauthorized use of a vehicle in connection to the fatal incident.
Details of the Incident
The Comanche County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible homicide made by the Cache Police Department on the evening of the incident. The initial report indicated that Poafpybitty admitted to shooting and killing Brad Jones.
According to the man who reported the incident, Poafpybitty drove Jones’ truck to his residence on D. Ave. in Cache, abandoned the vehicle, and began walking westbound. Poafpybitty was later located in a garage on E. Ave. and was taken into custody by law enforcement.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers inspected the vehicle and observed a significant amount of blood in the cabin, as well as bullet holes on the driver’s side of the truck.
Investigators also followed the tire tracks left by the truck, which led them to a field where Jones’ body was found near Townley Road and Indiahoma Road.
Poafpybitty’s Confession
During an interview with law enforcement officers, Poafpybitty allegedly confessed to the crime. According to investigators, Poafpybitty and Jones had an argument earlier that evening.
Following the dispute, Jones got into his truck, and Poafpybitty reportedly followed him to the vehicle with a rifle. Poafpybitty then claimed to have fired into the driver’s side of Jones’ truck.
According to Poafpybitty’s statement, Jones quickly reversed the truck into a fence and stopped across the road.
When Poafpybitty approached the truck, he found Jones bleeding and unresponsive. Poafpybitty then allegedly removed Jones’ body from the vehicle, got into the driver’s seat, and drove away.
Evidence Found at the Scene
Law enforcement officers recovered a rifle from the truck, as well as bloodstained clothes worn by Poafpybitty before he reportedly changed clothes. The findings strengthen the case against him.
Potential Consequences for Poafpybitty
Poafpybitty is now facing charges that carry severe penalties. If convicted of first-degree murder, he could face the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The case remains under investigation, and Poafpybitty is currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
