A Philadelphia mother is facing unimaginable heartbreak after losing her second son to gun violence in less than four years. What should have been a time of healing has instead become another painful chapter for a family already devastated by tragedy.
Now, Lisa Dixon is speaking out through her grief, hoping no other parent ever experiences the pain she is living through.
Philadelphia Mother Loses Second Son to Gun Violence
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, 38-year-old Kenneth Singleton was fatally shot inside a bar in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Monday, May 4.
Police say the deadly shooting happened during the evening, and investigators are now working to determine exactly what led to the violence.
Local reports indicate the shooting took place during a pool tournament, with shell casings reportedly found near a pool table.
Kenneth was rushed for medical treatment but sadly did not survive.
Tragedy Comes Nearly Four Years After Brother’s Murder
The heartbreaking loss comes almost exactly four years after another one of Lisa Dixon’s sons was murdered.
On May 9, 2022, Lisa’s 30-year-old son, Brandon Dixon, was fatally shot at a gas station in Philadelphia.
The timing has made this new tragedy even more painful for the grieving mother.
Kenneth’s death happened just days before the fourth anniversary of Brandon’s killing.
Mother Speaks Out About Her Pain
At a memorial held for Kenneth this week, Lisa Dixon shared emotional words about the pain of losing two sons to violence.
She said:
“I don’t want nobody else to go through the pain that I’m going through because it hurts real bad.”
She also spoke about the pressure people place on grieving parents to remain strong.
According to Lisa:
“They say, ‘Lisa you’re strong.’ But damn, when am I allowed to be weak?”
Her emotional words have touched many people in the Philadelphia community.
Family Says Kenneth Was in the Wrong Place
Lisa believes her son may have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
She told local reporters that Kenneth was not someone who regularly spent time drinking or partying.
“He didn’t even drink,” she said while trying to make sense of the tragedy.
Family members say Kenneth, lovingly known as “Scooter,” was a caring father and an important part of the family.
Kenneth Singleton Leaves Behind Young Daughter
Kenneth leaves behind a 5-year-old daughter who must now grow up without her father.
Family members describe him as the foundation of the family and someone who always supported those around him.
In a previous birthday tribute, Lisa called Kenneth:
- The rock of the family
- A source of happiness
- Someone who always held the family together
His death has left a major emotional void for everyone who knew him.
Brother Brandon Was Also a Beloved Father and Coach
Lisa’s younger son, Brandon Dixon, was also deeply loved in the community.
Brandon was known as:
- A talented high school basketball player
- A youth basketball coach
- A dedicated father
Surveillance footage from Brandon’s 2022 murder reportedly showed gunmen chasing him before fatally shooting him.
He also left behind a young child.
Police Searching for Answers
At this time, Philadelphia police say no arrests have been made in connection with Kenneth Singleton’s killing.
Investigators have not publicly announced a motive.
Authorities are now offering a $20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
Police continue urging anyone with information to come forward.
