A handwritten note believed to be connected to Jeffrey Epstein has been unsealed by a federal judge years after the convicted financier’s death in jail.
The document, described as an apparent suicide note, was made public by a New York court and has already sparked renewed public discussion around Epstein’s controversial case and death. However, officials have not officially confirmed whether the note is authentic.
Federal Judge Unseals Jeffrey Epstein’s Alleged Suicide Note
On May 6, District Judge Kenneth Karas of the Southern District of New York ordered the release of what appears to be a handwritten note connected to Jeffrey Epstein.
Epstein died on August 10, 2019, while being held in a New York jail cell. At the time, he was awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges involving underage girls.
Authorities later ruled his death a suicide.
The newly unsealed document was reportedly stored in a courthouse for several years as part of another criminal case.
What the Alleged Note Said
According to reports, the note included several emotional and defensive statements.
The document allegedly began with the words:
- “They investigated me for month[s] — Found NOTHING!!!”
The note also reportedly referenced previous criminal allegations and included statements about choosing “one’s time to say goodbye.”
Toward the end, the note allegedly stated:
- “Watcha want me to do — Bust out cryin!! NO FUN—NOT WORTH IT.”
Officials noted that the document is neither signed nor dated.
Authorities have also not officially verified that Epstein personally wrote the note.
Connection to Epstein’s Former Cellmate
The release of the note followed a legal request filed by The New York Times seeking access to the document.
According to reports, the note was linked to claims made by Nicholas Tartaglione, Epstein’s former cellmate.
Tartaglione allegedly told investigators that he discovered the note hidden inside a graphic novel in July 2019.
This reportedly happened shortly after Epstein was found injured inside his jail cell with marks around his neck.
Questions Around Epstein’s Jail Incident
At the time of the earlier incident, Epstein initially claimed that Tartaglione attacked him.
However, according to prison records later made public, Epstein eventually changed his statement and reportedly described the injuries as the result of a suicide attempt.
The case has continued to attract worldwide attention because of the serious allegations against Epstein and the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death.
Who Was Jeffrey Epstein?
Jeffrey Epstein was a wealthy financier who faced accusations involving the sexual abuse and trafficking of underage girls.
In July 2019, federal authorities arrested him on sex-trafficking charges connected to allegations dating back several years.
Investigators accused Epstein of exploiting and abusing girls as young as 14 years old.
His death before trial led to widespread speculation, legal battles, and public interest in court records tied to the investigation.
Public Interest in Epstein Files Continues
Even years after his death, documents connected to Epstein continue to generate headlines and legal action.
Many court records related to his associates, contacts, and criminal investigations have slowly been released over time.
The unsealing of the alleged suicide note has once again renewed attention on unanswered questions surrounding the case.
However, officials have stressed that the document has not been authenticated, and no final determination has been made regarding its origin or accuracy.
Ongoing Debate Around Epstein’s Death
Epstein’s death has remained controversial since 2019, with ongoing public debate about whether the official ruling of suicide fully explains the circumstances.
Federal investigators previously concluded that Epstein died by suicide while in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.
Despite this, conspiracy theories and public suspicion have continued for years due to security failures and unusual details surrounding the case.
