A dramatic courtroom scene unfolded in Texas after a convicted murderer allegedly attacked his own defense attorney moments after receiving the maximum prison sentence for a fatal shooting.
The accused, Jaquarius Lewis, 27, had just been sentenced to 50 years in prison for murder when he allegedly punched his court-appointed lawyer in the face in front of witnesses.
The incident happened on April 28 in Texas, immediately after a judge handed down the sentence.

According to reports, Lewis had pleaded guilty in connection with an April 2024 murder case.
He was facing a sentence ranging from five to 50 years behind bars.

According to the Houston Police Department, Lewis was convicted in the fatal shooting of Quincy Johnson, 40.
The shooting happened on April 18, 2024.
Investigators say Johnson was standing on his apartment balcony when two men walked by.
