A serious security incident at a major event in Washington, D.C. has led to strong legal action against the accused. New video evidence has now been shared, and the suspect will remain in custody as the case moves forward.
What Happened
The incident took place during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at the Hilton Hotel. Thousands of journalists, officials, and guests, including Donald Trump, were present.
According to officials, the suspect, Cole Allen, ran through a security checkpoint and opened fire. A United States Secret Service officer was shot, but survived because the bullet hit the protective vest.
Video Evidence Released
Jeanine Pirro shared a nearly six-minute video showing:
- The suspect allegedly checking the hotel area a day before the event
- Movement inside the hotel hallway and gym
- The moment he ran past security and fired a weapon
Officials say the footage clearly shows the suspect firing at the officer.
Charges Against the Suspect
Cole Allen, 31, is facing multiple serious charges:
- Attempted assassination of the President
- Transporting weapons across state lines for a crime
- Firing a weapon during a violent act
Prosecutors claim he used a shotgun and fired at least once at close range.
Court Update
Allen appeared in court and agreed to remain in custody for now. He did not speak during the hearing and is expected back in court on May 11.
