A disturbing case from the United States has shocked many after two young students went missing and were later found dead. The incident has raised serious concerns about safety and trust, especially among students living away from home.
Man Charged in Double Murder Case
A 26-year-old man, Hisham Abugharbieh, has been charged with first-degree murder in Florida. The case is linked to the deaths of two graduate students from the University of South Florida.
The victims have been identified as 27-year-old Zamil Limon and his girlfriend Nahida Bristy. Both were reported missing on April 16, which led to a detailed investigation.
Victims Were Students with Bright Futures
Zamil Limon was studying environmental science and was preparing to present his thesis. Nahida Bristy was pursuing chemical engineering and was described as a talented and promising student.
Reports suggest that the couple had plans to get married soon. Both were originally from Bangladesh, and their families have requested that their final rites follow Islamic traditions.
Investigation Revealed Key Evidence
During the investigation, authorities found that Limon and the accused were roommates living off-campus. A witness reported seeing the suspect moving a box to a dumpster shortly after the couple went missing.
When officers searched the dumpster, they found several items belonging to the victims, including personal belongings linked to both Limon and Bristy.
Body Found and Arrest Made
On April 24, Limon’s body was discovered under a bridge in Tampa Bay. Additional human remains were later found in the water, but officials have not yet confirmed if they belong to Bristy.
The same day, police arrested Abugharbieh after responding to an unrelated domestic call at his residence. He reportedly refused to cooperate at first and locked himself inside before being taken into custody after negotiations.
Suspicious Online Searches
Court documents revealed that the accused allegedly searched disturbing questions online before the victims went missing. These included queries about disposing of a human body, changing a car identification number, and firearm rules.
Investigators also found that he had allegedly purchased items like duct tape, trash bags, lighter fluid, and charcoal in the days leading up to the incident, raising further suspicion.
Multiple Charges Filed
Apart from first-degree murder, Abugharbieh faces several additional charges, including:
- Tampering with evidence
- Failure to report a death
- Moving a body unlawfully
- False imprisonment
- Battery
He is currently being held without bail, and his court hearing is scheduled for April 28.
