A serious domestic violence case has emerged from McAlester, Oklahoma, where a man is now facing felony charges after a reported incident involving a pregnant woman earlier this month. Authorities say the situation escalated quickly, leading to both physical injury and property damage.
Man Arrested After Domestic Disturbance
According to court records, Corey Gage Walley, 23, was arrested on April 19. He has been charged in Pittsburg County District Court with domestic assault and battery on a pregnant woman, along with malicious injury to property.
Police were called to a home on West Delaware Avenue after receiving a report that a woman had been shoved and that a door had been kicked in during a disturbance.
Details From Victim’s Statement
When officers arrived, they spoke directly with the victim, who shared details of what happened. According to a probable cause affidavit, she said she had been asleep when Walley began going through her phone.
The situation reportedly escalated after Walley called a number saved in the phone, which led to an argument between the two.
Alleged Assault and Property Damage
During the confrontation, the victim told officers that Walley smashed her phone. She said she tried to push him away, but he allegedly struck her, hitting her in the head.
She further told police that he struck her again in the stomach during the incident.
The victim informed officers that she was approximately 14 weeks pregnant at the time and said that Walley was aware of her pregnancy.
Suspect Taken Into Custody
Police later located Walley near South Fifth Street and East Choctaw Avenue. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to jail.
He was booked into the Pittsburg County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Current Legal Status
Walley is currently being held on a $15,000 bond. As part of the court’s order, he has been instructed to have no contact with the victim.
The case is now moving through the legal system, and further proceedings are expected.
This case highlights the serious nature of domestic violence, especially when it involves a pregnant victim. Authorities acted quickly following the report, leading to the arrest and charges against the suspect.
As the legal process continues, the focus will remain on ensuring justice and the safety of the victim. Situations like this also underline the importance of reporting incidents early so that help can arrive before matters worsen.
