Authorities in Newcastle are searching for multiple suspects following a reported burglary at a marijuana growing facility early Thursday morning, according to police.
Burglary Leads to Early Morning Police Pursuit
The incident began just after 3 a.m., when officers with the Blanchard Police Department and deputies from the Grady County Sheriff’s Office initiated a pursuit.
Police say the vehicle they were chasing was believed to be connected to a burglary at a marijuana grow facility in the area.
Crash and Suspects Flee the Scene
The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle crashed near South Dickerson Street and Southwest 16th Street in Newcastle.
According to the Newcastle Police Department, one person inside the vehicle fled on foot immediately after the crash. That suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities also reported that two additional vehicles believed to be connected to the burglary fled the area and remain at large.
Ongoing Search and Safety Warnings for Residents
Law enforcement agencies are continuing to search the surrounding area for the suspects. So far, no injuries have been reported.
Police are urging nearby residents to remain indoors if possible and stay alert.
Officials emphasized that residents should not approach any unknown individuals and should call 911 immediately if they see anything suspicious or have information related to the case.
The investigation into the burglary and pursuit remains active as authorities work to locate the suspects involved. With at least one individual considered armed and dangerous, law enforcement continues to prioritize public safety while searching the area.
