A shocking accident in Texas turned into a major drug bust when police discovered a huge quantity of suspected liquid meth inside a crashed vehicle. What first appeared to be a normal road accident quickly became a serious investigation involving dangerous chemicals and illegal drugs.
Deadly Crash Leads to Major Drug Discovery
In Fort Worth, police responded to a car crash on April 16 around 11:28 a.m. When officers arrived, they found that a minivan had hit a parked vehicle and stopped a short distance away.
Inside the van, two adult men were found:
- One was already dead in the passenger seat
- The other, the driver, was given medical help but later died at the scene
Nearly 500 Pounds of Suspected Meth Found
During the investigation, firefighters noticed a strong chemical smell coming from the vehicle. This led to a deeper search.
Authorities discovered:
- Around 10 plastic buckets filled with liquid
- The substance had very strong fumes
- Total weight was nearly 480 pounds
Initial testing suggested that the liquid was methamphetamine. Its estimated street value could be between ₹8 crore to ₹25 crore (around $1 million to $3 million).
Hazmat Team and Safety Measures
Due to the dangerous nature of the substance, special teams were called in:
- Hazardous materials (hazmat) crews secured the area
- Narcotics officers joined the investigation
- Experts from Drug Enforcement Administration handled testing and disposal
Photos from the scene showed officials wearing protective suits while examining the van and the buckets.
Firefighter Affected by Chemical Exposure
During the operation, one firefighter was exposed to the chemical fumes and had to be taken to the hospital. Thankfully, he was reported to be in stable condition and expected to recover soon.
How Dangerous the Situation Could Have Been
Officials said the situation could have been much worse. If the van had rolled over or crashed into a building, it could have caused:
- A chemical spill on a larger scale
- Fire or explosion risks
- Serious harm to nearby people
The presence of such a large quantity of liquid meth on a public road made the situation extremely risky.
