The accident happened on the night of November 2, 2024. Sara-Danielle Holmes, a 37-year-old mother of two young girls, was travelling in a Chevy Equinox with her boyfriend, Sergio Larcher de Brito.
They were just a block away from reaching home when their vehicle was suddenly hit by another car. The impact was extremely severe. According to police reports, the force of the crash was so strong that it split their vehicle into two parts.
Holmes was immediately taken to the hospital, but sadly, she could not survive her injuries.
Driver Was Speeding and Drunk
The accused, 27-year-old Cesar Navarrete, was driving at a dangerously high speed of around 115 miles per hour. Police confirmed that he ran a red light before crashing into the SUV.
At the scene, officers noticed clear signs that he was under the influence of alcohol. Later tests showed his blood alcohol level was 0.165, which is more than double the legal limit in most areas.
Investigators also found that Navarrete had a previous DUI record and was driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash.
