A shocking crime from Missouri has left many people disturbed, as a man has been accused of killing his own father in a very brutal way.
The incident came to light after family members became worried when they could not reach the elderly man for a few days. What followed was a police investigation that revealed disturbing details.
How the Incident Came to Light
The case began when the sister of 71-year-old Robert Manns went to check on him after not hearing from him since April 11. She grew concerned about his safety and decided to visit his home.
When she reached the house, she noticed that the front door was unlocked, which immediately raised suspicion. As she entered the home, she discovered her brother’s lifeless body lying in the bedroom. She quickly informed the authorities.
Police officers arrived at the scene and started their investigation. During their initial check, they found that Robert Manns’ silver Dodge Ram truck was missing from the driveway. His son, Dustin D. Manns, was also nowhere to be found and was not answering calls.
Police Investigation and Arrest
After gathering initial information, authorities began searching for the missing vehicle and the son. A few hours later, officials located the truck in a nearby county.
Dustin Manns was found at a residence in that area. Police detained him and brought him back for questioning.
During the investigation, officers collected evidence from the crime scene, including a fishing spear, which later became an important piece of evidence in the case.
Confession and Disturbing Details
According to police reports, Dustin Manns admitted to killing his father during questioning. The details he allegedly shared were deeply disturbing.
He reportedly told officers that he used a fishing spear to stab his father. After that, he struck him with the handle of the weapon and then suffocated him until he died.
The weapon used in the crime was recovered from the scene, supporting the statements given during the investigation.
Charges Filed Against the Accused
After gathering evidence and the alleged confession, authorities formally charged Dustin Manns with several serious crimes. These include:
- First-degree murder
- Armed criminal action
- Abandonment of a corpse
- Stealing a motor vehicle
- Tampering with a motor vehicle
He has been taken into custody and is currently being held without bond at the Ripley County Detention Center.

One of the most surprising aspects of this case is that the motive behind the crime has not been revealed yet. Police have not shared any reason why the son allegedly committed such a violent act against his father.
Investigations are still ongoing, and authorities may release more details as the case develops.
