A heartbreaking incident in northwest Oklahoma City has taken a serious turn, with police now treating a hit-and-run case as a murder investigation. The shocking event has raised concerns about safety and how quickly arguments can turn deadly.
Hit-and-Run Case Turns Into Murder Investigation
The Oklahoma City Police Department confirmed that what initially appeared to be a hit-and-run is now being investigated as a deliberate act.
The incident happened on Sunday morning around 10 a.m. in a Surrey Hills neighbourhood near NW 104th Street and Middlesbrough Lane in Oklahoma City.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found 39-year-old Taisha Dale lying on the road with critical injuries.
Victim Succumbed to Injuries
Emergency responders quickly provided medical aid and rushed Dale to a nearby hospital. Sadly, she could not survive her injuries.
Police officials stated that despite immediate efforts to save her, the injuries were too severe. The incident has left the local community deeply shaken.
Argument Led to Deadly Act
During the investigation, officers found that Dale had been involved in an argument with 30-year-old Deawna Jones shortly before the incident.
According to authorities:
- The two women had an ongoing dispute
- The argument happened on the street
- Dale later walked away from the confrontation
Police believe that instead of leaving the situation, Jones got into her vehicle and made a shocking decision.
Intentional Act, Say Police
Investigators allege that Jones deliberately used her car to hit Dale. Officials described the act as intentional, stating that she “purposely and intentionally” ran the victim over before fleeing the scene.
This key detail is why the case has now been upgraded to a murder investigation rather than a simple traffic incident.
Arrest Made Shortly After Incident
Police were able to quickly track down the suspect. Jones was located at her residence in Del City and taken into custody.
She now faces serious charges, including:
- First-degree murder
- Leaving the scene of an injury accident
Authorities have confirmed that she has been booked into jail, and further legal proceedings will follow.
