A heartbreaking incident in Missouri has left a family in deep grief after a young woman was shot and killed while working at a fast-food restaurant. What appears to have started as a small argument quickly turned into a tragic act of violence.
Shooting at drive-thru window
The incident took place on April 8 at a Steak ‘n Shake outlet on Bellefontaine Road in St. Louis County.
Chauncia La’Shell Meekins, 32, was working at the drive-thru window when a confrontation reportedly happened between employees and someone inside a car. During the argument, a person inside the vehicle fired a gun through the drive-thru window.
Meekins and her male co-worker were both hit by the gunfire.
Victim pronounced dead
Police confirmed that Meekins died at the scene. Her co-worker survived the attack and was taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities said his injuries are not life-threatening.
The shooting reportedly happened around 11:35 p.m., according to available information.

Meekins’ mother, Tamela Washington, shared her pain while speaking to local media. She said she had just spoken to her daughter hours before the incident.
They were discussing Meekins’ upcoming birthday on April 23. She had asked her mother to cook her favourite meal for the celebration.
Instead of preparing for a birthday, her family is now preparing for her funeral. Her mother described the incident as a senseless act over something as small as a food order.

Family members described Meekins as a bright and hardworking person. She was known for her friendly nature and positive attitude.
She had been working at the restaurant for only about three months before the tragic incident.
