A tense and frightening situation unfolded inside a church in Texas when a man allegedly entered with a weapon and made serious threats during a live service. What could have turned into a major tragedy was stopped just in time, thanks to the quick action of a security member present at the scene.
Incident Inside Houston Church
The incident happened on March 15 at a church in Houston, Texas. During a regular service, a man later identified as Emmanuel Ashono Mbwavi reportedly entered the premises carrying a backpack and behaving suspiciously.
Church members initially did not realise the seriousness of the situation, but the security team quickly noticed something was wrong.
Suspicious Behaviour Raises Alarm
A member of the church security team became alert after recognising Mbwavi from a previous incident. He had earlier been asked to leave the church for distributing concerning materials.
This time, the security member noticed:
- Mbwavi was carrying a backpack
- He appeared to be hiding something near his pocket
- His behaviour seemed unusual and tense
These signs made the situation look serious and required close attention.
Alleged Attempt to Draw Weapon
As the service continued, Mbwavi reportedly approached a pastor and began interacting with him. During this moment, the security member claimed he saw Mbwavi trying to pull out what looked like a gun from his pocket.
Fearing immediate danger, the security guard acted quickly to prevent any possible attack.
Quick Action Prevents Possible Tragedy
The security team member tackled Mbwavi to the ground before he could take any action. During the struggle:
- Mbwavi allegedly shouted threats
- He reportedly claimed he was a “prophet called Warlock”
- He said he intended to harm the pastor
At one point, he also began counting down, which made people fear that he might be trying to trigger an explosive device.
Weapons and Ammunition Recovered
After controlling the situation, authorities recovered weapons and other items from Mbwavi.
According to reports, police found:
- A loaded revolver with live rounds
- Around 100 additional rounds of ammunition
- A phone containing disturbing notes
One of the notes reportedly mentioned a plan to target the pastor.
Past Behaviour and Warning Signs
Another church member shared that Mbwavi had previously been removed from the church due to strange behaviour. He had also been asking personal questions that made people uncomfortable.
Despite being denied entry earlier, he returned again, this time allegedly armed.
Arrest and Charges
Mbwavi was arrested at the scene by police. Initially, he was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Later, authorities added a more serious charge:
- Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
This reflects the seriousness of the threats and the situation.
Investigation and Evidence
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from inside the church. The footage reportedly showed Mbwavi moving among people while holding something in his pocket that appeared to be a weapon.
The case is now being handled by authorities, and further legal proceedings will follow.
