A shooting incident in Fort Smith, Arkansas has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect nearly two weeks after the crime.
What Happened
According to the Fort Smith Police Department, officers responded to a shooting at Woodlawn Park on March 13. When they arrived, they found a 21-year-old man who had been shot in the leg.
The victim told police he had gone to the park to meet someone to sell shoes. However, instead of a normal transaction, the situation turned into an attempted robbery.
How the Shooting Occurred
Police say Mauricio Romani approached the victim with a gun and tried to rob him. The victim attempted to escape by driving away, but Romani allegedly fired multiple shots at the vehicle.
One of the bullets struck the victim in the shin. Despite the injury, the victim survived.
Suspect Arrested
After investigating the case, police arrested Romani on March 26 during a traffic stop. Authorities have not yet shared full details about the charges, but the case is expected to move forward in court.
