A shocking incident in Florida has raised concerns about public safety after a young woman was arrested for allegedly attacking two elderly women in a parking lot. The situation reportedly involved alcohol and drug use, which may have contributed to the violent behaviour.
Woman Arrested for Attacking Elderly Victims
A 25-year-old woman named Allie Grace Barrentine has been arrested and charged with multiple offences. According to police, she faces:
- Two counts of battery against persons aged 65 or older
- One count of resisting an officer without violence
- One count of disorderly conduct
The case has gained attention due to the age of the victims and the nature of the attack.
Incident Took Place in Walmart Parking Lot
The incident happened on Monday evening at a Walmart Supercenter located in Panama City Beach, Florida. Police received a call around 7:40 p.m. reporting a disturbance in the parking area.
At the time, Barrentine was walking through the parking lot while two elderly women were inside a car passing through the same lane.
Accused Allegedly Attacked Vehicle and Victims
According to the police report, Barrentine suddenly began punching the vehicle. When the women got out of the car, the situation turned violent.
The first victim, around 69 years old, was allegedly:
- Grabbed by the arm
- Pulled by her necklace
- Had her bracelet broken during the struggle
Second Victim Physically Injured
The second woman, around 65 years old, faced even more serious injuries. Police say Barrentine:
- Grabbed her by the throat, leaving redness
- Scratched her near the eye area
- Punched her in the eye with a closed fist
Visible injuries were reported, making the case more serious.
Police Noticed Signs of Intoxication
When officers arrived at the scene around 8 p.m., they observed that Barrentine appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
According to the report, she:
- Smelled strongly of alcohol
- Was unsteady on her feet
- Had slurred speech
She also admitted to consuming both alcohol and cannabis before the incident.
Resisted Arrest and Tried to Escape Restraints
Police said Barrentine did not cooperate when they tried to arrest her. She reportedly became argumentative and refused to follow instructions.
During the arrest:
- She tried to pull away from officers multiple times
- Slipped out of her restraints
- Tampered with the handcuffs even after being placed in a patrol vehicle
Officers had to use different restraints to finally secure her.
Custody and Court Details
Barrentine, who is from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was taken to the Bay County Jail. Her total bond was set at $21,000.
She is scheduled to appear in court for her first hearing on April 20.
